With every Nu-Metal band and their mothers getting a record contract, and releasing less than stellar major label debuts (look up StereoMud, Saliva and Insolence) it is extremaly easy to take one look at 40 Below Summer, shake your head, and dismiss them. BUT.. there is one key element that should attract the average Nu-Metal head out there who's looking to find the "next big thing". This album was executivly produced by M. Shawn Crahan... a.k.a. Clown "#6" from Slipknot.. the guy who picks his "brain" in the Left Behind video. Anyway... with his help of bringing Mudvayne to the masses, I was more than willing to give 40 Below Summer a chance. After a friend had showed me "We The People", I was amazed. A rock song, so heavy, and filled with screams, has a Bridge with acoustic guitars in it. "So what?" you say? Name me one Nu-Metal band whose done that (with the exception of Cold). Thank you. "Invitation To the Dance" is awesome. It's not the most original music out there, as you will find out in less than awesome tracks "Drown" and "Rejection", but the other 10 songs more than make up for it. The vocalist is awesome, the guitar work is genius, and the drummer is RUTHLESS! I'm talking Joey Jordison mixed with Danney Carey Ruthless. The album is a MUST for anyone looking to find a band that is well on it's way to becoming a well established group.
