Good start...room to grow by Terry E. Hampton Tehachapi, CA United States

People from away may not know it, but Portland, Maine has a great music scene and a population that loves to support its local talent. The first single from 6gig's Tincan Experiment was "5" and that track alone was enough to make me, and hundreds of other Mainers, sit up and take notice. They became local stars before they released their first record."5" and "Hit The Ground" were both released prior to the album's debut, and are two of the strongest tracks. They could both be categorized in that clicheish, ambiguous genre, nu-metal. But other songs, particularly "Tincan Experiment" and "Will Lie" are more on the experimental side and transcend any one category. The band's sound takes from many other bands and styles as a result of the diversity of the band members themselves. Tincan Experiment, as a whole, is a tad spotty. Some tracks are great, some are unimpressive. But the diverse nature of the album, coupled with the fact that 6gig is a very young band gives me a lot of hope. I think they will only get better from here. Give Tincan Experiment a listen, and when they're on top of the rock charts, you'll be able to say you've known them since the beginning.
