702 was a fresh young trio in 1996, discovered by the legendary Michael Bivins (of Bell Biv Devoe & New Edition fame ), who emerged from the rest of the new acts with their hit song `Steelo'. With this ten song album with production by Missy Elliot, Trackmasters and Donell Jones, this group established themselves in the industry and setup success that they are still having to this day. "No Doubt'' had great songs beyond the age of these girls. This album contained a maturity usually not seen until albums in the adult years. 702 (Meelah, Irish, Misha) definitely had singing talent with Meelah (dark skinned) handling most of the lead. Once you heard `Steelo', you knew this group would not be a one hit wonder. And they weren't. "All I Want"(also theme music from the Nickolodeon movie "Good Burger") and "Get It Together'' as singles further added to their authenticity. Don't go thinking the rest of the album is not good though. "Not Gonna" has some serious attitude to it with its take no shorts tone, while "Word Iz Bond" is the perfect chill out track. Back in 96, 702 had the gift. This album still gets spins from me ( I have over 500 cds! ) so that should do this album some justice. Go get this album as soon as possible.
