So this isn't what we wanted from MJK? It's still a very good album. I have read way too many things that act as if APC is a band with a bunch of no talent punks in it. We have 2 people in this band who were in two of the biggest bands of the 90's, Tool and Smashing Pumpkins. This cd was not meant to showcase their incredible music talent. It is an anti-war cd just like the EP that Rush released of cover songs. Now to the songs, Imagine is in no way shape or form butchered. Beatles fans are so angry about this. I think Maynard makes the song a little creepier, a little more atmospheric and a lot more apocalyptic. I've seen a few talk about Maynard's vocals in the third song. Maynard does not sing What's So Funny About Peace, Love and Understanding, Billy does. What's Goin On is the best of the covers it would make Marvin Gaye proud. It's not that it is better then the original but it is just as good in a different way. People are People, how can you butcher a Depeche Mode song? Maynard gives it a whole new twist and it is better then the original. Passive is a song that I knew as Vacant. I seen APC perform it live a few years ago. Gimme Gimme Gimme by Black Flag, what a change this is from the original. I like the original better. Maynard sounds similar to the singer of Korn in this song. Freedom of Choice is a HUGE improvement over the original. Let's Have a War is a cover of a Fear song. It hits about the same way the original did. It can be quite catchy though. Counting Bodies Like Sheep is Pet from 13th Step done industrial and has some serious power to it. When the Levee Breaks, most people know the version by Led Zeppelin but I'm pretty sure their version was a cover of someone else also. It is good, has a Pink Floyd feel to it. Fiddle and Drum is a Joni Mitchell song that I could do without. It doesn't keep me interested like the other songs do. All in all it is a very good cover album. Pick it up.
