words cannot describe the greatness of acid bath

what genre is this? hard to say. few bands have ever been so versatile yet cohesive... they stitch together new orleans sludge, doom metal, grindcore, deathmetal, gothic and 70's stoner rock to an extremely great album. because of it's versatility i will review every song for it's own1. the blue - starts slow and sludgy with a distorted riff, grinds through various tempo changes with great lyrics and cool vocal work from mastermind riggs. 10/10
2. tranquilized - the most accesable song on the disc. mostly clean vox and catchy guitar work - without ever sounding flat 9/10
3. cheap vodka - a short and in-the-face song, full of punky attitude and aggression 9/10
4. fingerpaintings of the insane - incredible track, very hypnotic and downright disturbing. has some excellent distorted guitar which gives it its unique sound. very dark lyrics too 10/10
5. jezebel - brutal. starts with a napalm-death style blastbeat. aggro guitarwork and brutal lyrics. 9/10
6. screams of the butterfly - very melodic track and goth-tinged track. riggs has an incredible voice on here. strangely the violent and graphic lyrics fit nothing to the rather calm song
7. dr. suess is dead - fantastic. starts slow and builds up to a killer chorus underlined through sawing guitar and double bass drums. 10/10
8. dope fiend - cool track, although not quite as excellent as the rest. 8/10
9. toubabo koomi - reminiscent of "cheap vodka" another punk-infused, fierce-as-hell mosher 9/10
10. god machine - brilliant. the most death metal style track with spooky spoken word parts and brutal, shredding guitarwork and excellent drumming. lyrics are among the best i've ever heard. 10/10
11. the mortician's flame - another outstanding track. very dark and heavy, with an incredibly goth-atmosphere. 10/10
12. what color is death - a moshpit compatible, aggression fueled rocker. great instrumentation and structure. 9/10
13. bones of the baby dolls - very mellow and depressing song, mainly acoustic but still excellent songwriting. 8/10
14. cassie eats cockroaches - starts with a killer riff, brutal with various shifts and breaks. starts with cool samples from "a clockwork orange" and has menacing drums, making it sounding almost industrial-like. 10/10 altogether you got one of the best, yet most underrated metal albums of the 90's... HIGHLY recommended
