This album is completely awesome. Every song is great, but I'll descire my favorites in a little detail.
Tranquilized is groovy. It is a one of a kind from these guys and they never get this groovy again. Fingerpaintings Of The Insane is a pretty creepy song, but great, of course. The best part is the deranged rambling at the end followed by singer Dax repeating kill the father, rape the mother, kill the father, rape the mother. I was obsessed with Jezebel for a long time. "If I took this cigarrette and put it out on you...would you love me?" More messed up but somehow great lyrics about... a prostitute? The song starts out with blast beat on drums and it could be Acid Bath's heaviest moment ever. Dr. Seuss Is Dead is an evil song. It's slow and brooding and churning until the killer chorus, which makes use of both Sami's and Audie's throats. Three men screaming and double bass, it doesn't get much better. God Machine is my current obsession. Partly because I understand the lyrics more than most of the other songs, but also because the song rocks. Both accoustic songs, Scream of the Butterfly and Bones of Baby Dolls are wonderful and beautiful, but I think I'm in the minority when I say Bones is the better of the two.
The band's next album is also a must have, but I don't think it's as heavy. Dax's voice was good enough to make me buy the Agents of Oblivion cd (which is mellow but great) and the Deadboy and the Elephantmen demo (also great, even more mellow). I've spoken to someone who knows Dax and Mike and he says Acid Bath aren't known out of NO LA. I hope this isn't true (hell, I'm from NYC, so it can't be completely true) because they are one of the best metal bands I've ever heard.
