Afroman's "The Good Times" is a fun and talented album. It is my favorite rap album I own. Along with Eminem and a couple other smaller rap artists (Blackalicious) Afroman brings in a new energy and musical talent into the rap community. His songs are just so damn catchy and good. The songs aren't just simplistic bass beats and drum riffs, but area actually musical. Then, his lyrics are just hilarious, with great rhymes. From his parody in Colt 45 of "Rapper's Delight" to all of the other funny sexual content and drug jokes he has, it makes you laugh after numerous times hearing it. I think it was kind of proper that he did a song for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back because lots of Afroman's humor is like the "low brow" aspect of Kevin Smith's humor. It is obviously written by someone who finds sex and drugs immaturely funny, but in a way, it is also making fun of sex and drug humor. And, for those of you who have heard "Because I got High" from Jay and Silent Bob, musically speaking, none of his other songs are like that one. They are usually faster and somewhat mor emelodic, and his rapping is like another percussion instrument in the song. However, content wise, the lyrics are very similar.
