excellent ep! by Andrew Raff Medford, MA USA
Reviewed on July 17th, 2000
Seed is an excellent EP and the most focused Agents of Good Roots album. Unlike their major label (RCA) debut, One by One, Seed actually sounds like Agents. The five tracks here are all excellent, with the highlight probably being "John Brown," a track from the upcoming studio album "Needle and Thread." The cover of Dire Straits' "Sultans of Swing" demonstrates how this band can take a cover song and put their own touch on it. Agents' version is not better or worse than the original, but different.Even though this EP only has 5 songs on it, there is an enhanced component (which plays equally well on both macs and pcs), which includes the video for "Come On" (from One by One) as well as a video documentary on the making of Needle and Thread. "Seed" is definately worth the purchase price.
