Moon Safari is one of my favorite electronic albums!

Moon Safari, released in 1998, caused quite an impression worldwide. While previous French electronic albums, like Laurent Garnier's 30 or Daft Punk's Homework were hard-hitting, dancefloor oriented techno, Air's Moon Safari was much more aimed at the headset (or the conversation). It opens with the particulary impressive La Femme d'Argent, a 7-minute jazzy instrumental which sets a dreamy moonscape ambience that goes on through the album. Unfortunately, the album doesn't contain another jazzy instrumental like the great opener, however, this by no means is a bad thing. After La Femme d'Argent, the album continues with Sexy Boy, All I Need and Kelly, Watch The Stars!, three catchy songs which employ talkbox effects, and, oddly enough, it works! Talisman is another instrumental, but it is in a more 'dramatic' vein than La Femme D'Argent. Remember continues the style of the first three vocal tracks, but You Make It Easy is more, um, let's say 'balladish' although it isn't. Ce Matin La is another vocal-less track, and, again, it has a Talisman-like feel. The last vocal track is New Star in the Sky (Chanson pour SOLAL), which combines the style of both the first four tracks and the 'balladish' tones of You Make It Easy. La Voyage de Penelope closes the album instrumentally. I just love this album because it sounds like a soundtrack to a movie, and it brings images of me in urban scapes with certain people to my mind, as well as other funny moon-related things, like a girl jumping in the moon... I love it!
