I have never reviewed an album on Amazon before but this one is so good I just can't resist. Moorer's music has a definite traditional country sound, but it is also distinctively smooth and hypnotic. There is not a bad song on this album; the lyrics are well-written and original. My favorite songs are Easier to Forget, When you Call my Name and Long Black Train. These songs would be good with anybody singing them but they are simply out of this world when sung by Moorer's smooth, sultry, powerful voice. To be perfectly honest, most of the songs are sad and depressing but, in my opinion, that is the way country music is supposed to be. Mainstream country music is far to happy (and pop-ish) in my opinion. Some types of music are not supposed to be happy (who wants to here B.B. King sing happy songs?). I just hope that she doesn't compromise her sound to become more commercially successful. That is another problem with most modern country; they all seem to be trying to sound as much like each other as possible. Anyway, this is a fantastic album and I can't want to buy her second album, which is coming out soon.
