This ghost is remarkably haunting...

I somehow missed this CD when it first came out. On a friend's recommendation, I picked it up... and am I glad I did. This has to be one of the best CD's I've heard in quite some time.I had previously heard "Filthy Mind", which I thought was good... and I expected the rest of the CD to be along the same dance-driven lines. To my pleasant surprise, Amanda Ghost can do much more than simply concoct a dance tune. Not a single song on this CD disappointed me. Amanda's voice has an ache, an honest yearning... and her lyrics are quite intelligent -- something so lacking from most modern music these days. Sample the optimistic & lightly guitar-driven "Glory Girl". The gritty blues feel of "Cellophane". The fantastic "Silver Lining", which is beautifully backdropped with strings and piano. The thumping emotional abuse in "A Child Believes". Take all the aforementioned elements and roll them up into "Numb", the perfect closing song. And it's the perfect closing song for a utterly fantastic CD. Trust me... this underrated gem is definitely a must-have.
