ZAPPA'S BEST LIVE ALBUM......NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!!!!

roxy and elsewhere is the best zappa "live" album for many reasons. first, ALL of the songs on here premiered in concert and, thus, were not heard on previous albums (studio or live). second, every song on here is fantastic. one song in particular, "village of the sun", is about a specific part of california where turkeys were raised and had the potential to become a commercial hit not unlike many other zappa songs. some terrific instrumentals. a few songs include a spoken intro by zappa himself before playing begins which adds a unique touch to the "concert" aspect of the album. the sound on here (from 73 and 74 concerts) is practically perfect and much better than his previous live albums like fillmore east and just another band from l.a. the best part of the album is the final "be bop tango" which runs almost 17 minutes and includes awesome jazz-rock fusion, a hilarious solo by george duke on keyboard and audience participation as they dance to the sounds of george duke and the tango. and i bet that everyone who owns this album has secretly danced frantically to it atleast one time...guaranteed!!! no need to be ashamed!!! it's fun!! the whole album is great!! get roxy and elsewhere and you'll have zappa at his "live" best!!
