Gretchen Wilson landed onto the scene with the smash hit "Red Neck Woman" which quickly climbed in the charts. Now while "Red Neck Woman" is a song to launch a career, this cd is a testament which cements it. Gretchen is probably one of the few country women of today who is trying to bring back country to what it once it was: honest, brutal, and all out blue collar-style.
The cd starts with her second single "Here For The Party" which is just as up beat as "Red Neck Woman", which is the second song. But it's songs like the next two, "When I Think About Cheatin'" and "Homewrecker" are two strong forces on the album as well, and possibly the best right along with the last song, "Pocahontas Proud", which really shows she has staying power.
This album blew many away with her old fashioned style of country, which was a switch from country's "princess'" of country: Shania Twain and Faith Hill. While I enjoy those artists as well, artists like Gretchen Wilson remind me of what female country used to be when artist like Tanya Tucker and Reba McEntire reigned. This album is a must have for anyone who misses the way country used to be, and not what it is today: pop with cowboy hats.
