This album has some of John's best songs on it, my favourites are the title track, Jealous Guy, Gimme Some Truth, Oh My Love and How. It is probably the easiest album to listen to. However, it is much less personal sounding than Plastic Ono Band or Walls and Bridges. The remix has improved the original greatly. The vocals are brought up a lot and the sound is much clearer. However, the remix cannot get rid of the basic fact that this album is overproduced. With several guitars, two pianos and strings on many tracks the overall sound is mushy. The remix has to great extent simply reduced the volume of the mush in relation to John's voice. This new release makes the tracks sound much better but in my opinion does not go far enough. I feel that this album could be sensational if some of the layers of mush were peeled off, leaving a simpler more 'Plastic One Bandesque' sound. With just one guitar, one piano, drums and bass most of this tracks would be greatly improved.
