Depressing DM? by "time_hat" Atlanta, GA
Reviewed on May 5th, 2002
Sadly Katatonia has gone soft as of late. If you like their new stuff, don't bother with this album. Mike from Opeth did these vocals in a single day with the band just for fun. They ended up liking it so they began distribution. Later...they, well, to put it nicely got soft.Brave Murder Day is depressing death metal. Definately unique and well worth a buy if you want a change from pure rage. Though this is a sort of raging depression. How could it not be with Mike on vocals? The bottom line is this. If you like death metal, especially anything with Mike, get it. Don't expect your usual Katatonia fair though. Oh yes, and of course Dan Swano was involved in the production so you know it's of extreme quality. If you do end up liking this album though and would like to hear more of Mike, Dan, and two of the Katatonia guitarists go check out Bloodbath. As I write this, they have only an E.P. out but will soon be releasing a full album.
