doom/black metal at its best by "driver_down" Toronto
Reviewed on March 11th, 2003
This is one of the best atmospheric doom/black metal albums. The master mind and the cornerstone of this recording is their drummer/vocalist. Passionate (bass) growling vocals, torturous slow rhythms and drumming, simple but melodic and imaginative riffs, diffused melancholy which sometimes leads to aggressiveness and an overall unique atmosphere. I can't bring in my mind any band compining in such a successful way doom metal atmosphere/music with black m. vocals/music (not opthalamia, nor ved buens ende, nor any other band -though v.b.e. is another story). After the "for funerals to come" 12"/mcd the group drew new, completely different horizons. "Clear" vocals, faster rythms, more pop-gothic music. I don't know what they are into at this moment (i lost interest for them when i heard the "brave murder day" CD) but i won't whine for this turn. They left us with this gem and we are thankful for this.
