I think it's safe to say that I'm one of the few people that even has this album. And I didn't even buy it; I borrowed it from the library. Anyway, most of the reviewers here say that the best song on Kevin Lyttle's album is the classic "Turn Me On". I agree that that's the most recognizable song on the album, but I don't know about calling it "classic". (I mean, it's OKAY, but...)
"Turn Me On" is easily recognized because most of the rest of the songs sound just like it. To be honest, this album really sounds like an hour of the same song. The only songs that really break up the album's monotony is Kevin's cover of Terence Trent D'Arby's "Sign Your Name" (which neither helps nor hurts matters) and the completely disorganized "Mama Mia".
Subject matter gets kind of monotonous, too. A lot of the songs are about sex, and it especially doesn't help when he uses corny lyrics in songs like "Last Drop" and "Ya Kiss" ("You got a kiss that's so wet I wanna drink from it"???). Also, as another reviewer mentioned, Kevin's voice tends to get annoying sometimes, not to mention that sometimes it's hard to understand what he's saying.
It also doesn't help when he brings aboard average emcees with names like Mr. Easy ("Screaming Out My Name"). And Spragga Benz shows up on at least three tracks, and his verses neither help nor hurt the songs. Kevin Lyttle's album is good for a party, but I don't know if it'll give him lasting power for the next year.
