I generally feel that writing these reviews is a waste of time because its pretty tough as a consumer to wade through the b.s. to find something useful, however, for some reason I was compelled to throw in my two cents on this album. When I first heard the first rage album, I hated it. I wasn't really into the "rap rock" thing (if you can call it that), and I thought the guitars sounded like the soundtrack to early nintendo games. Then, somehow, it grew to be my favorite album. I came to appreciate the technicality of the guitar work and the "music with a message" idea started to appeal to me. Even though I'm not especially politically active, listening to this stuff seems more important than listening to someone singing about how depressed they are. Maybe this isn't really a valid point, but you can decide for yourself. Now, getting on to this album...once again, I wasn't especially impressed when I first heard it, and once again it grew on me. Now, 8 or so years later, it is still battling with the self titled album as my favorite disc of all time. Bulls on Parade is one of the hardest hitting songs in its genre, and Down Rodeo is a fantastically nuanced song, easily overlooked at first. Anyways, I assume that most people reading this already know what RATM sounds like so I won't bother trying to describe them (any description I could write would probably be trashed by other reviewers anyways), but perhaps those reading this are unsure about this album. I recommend it over any of the later albums, but probably not over the first one.
