Second album from German Electro Metal band Rammstein who combine heavy marching riffs with diverse keyboard sounds. Sehnsucht is my favourite Rammstein album, because on this album they use plenty of techno sounds. The songs are mostly compact, have simple arrangements and are as catchy as can be. Although the songs are rather simple, there is always on interesting twist in the song. Especially the keyboardist plays some interesting parts in songs like "Bestrafe Mich" and "Eifer Sucht". In "Eifer Sucht" you can hear a sample that sounds like a typical cartoon sound of a spring. Unfortunately the keyboard sound on Sehnsucht sometimes sounds rather cheap. Does the keyboardist use a cheap keyboard? The keyboard sound on the live versions on the album Live Aus Berlin sound much better. The lyrics are not everybody's cup of tea, they are sung in the German language and they deal about serious matters in a sarcastic way, but they blend perfectly with the music. The album starts out with the title track that contains heavy up-tempo guitars. "Engel" starts with a cool whistling intro and has some cool female vocals on it child voices. Bestrafe Mich is one of my favourite tracks. There is a cool keyboard part in the middle of the song. Klavier is the slowest song on the album and can be compared with the epic ballad Seemann from the album Herzeleid. It is a very different song than the other songs on the album because it is very bombastic. On Sehnsucht there is also a cover version, namely "Stripped" from Depeche Mode. It is rather strange to hear that song being sang in English. I highly recommend Sehnsucht when you're an open-minded Metal fan.
