To say Sehnsucht is an incredible album is a HUGE understatement. The German masters of industrial metal are at it again following their previous stunning effort, Herzeleid. Unlike most sophomore efforts by bands, Sehnsucht comes across as a HUGE surprise. The album starts out with the AWESOME title track with a very cool middle eastern like sound effect and progresses into a cool synth and then into heavy guitar and drums. Next, the melodic "Engel" balances Till's singing with a woman's (who comes in on the chorus). Overall, a beautiful combination that makes an incredible song. After that, the very cool "Tier" begins followed by the metallic "Bestraffe Mich." Then finally the LEGENDARY "Du Hast" plays out (and if you haven't heard this song, PLEASE LISTEN TO IT SOMEHOW!!!) followed by the heavy "Buch Dich" and then "Spiel Mit Mir" which is probably one of the best tracks on Sehnsucht. It starts out all soft and mysterious, and builds up into a slow, heavy whirlwind of guitar and keyboard. "Klavier" balances out the CD with a peaceful guitar and beautiful chorus. "Alter Mann" starts with a cool, jungle like drum beat and quickly jumps into guitar and then goes back into the very cool jungle beat again. It's a pretty cool track. "Eifersucht" and "Kuss Mich" aren't as awesome, but still are good tracks that have pretty good choruses. Finally, for anyone who remembers the 80's band Depeche Mode, Rammstein does an AMAZING cover of "Stripped" on the hidden 12th track that ends Sehnsucht with a bang. Simply put, Sehnsucht is essential to any industrial, new metal, or hard rock fan's collection.
