"core" was hard to top.you wouldnt think that any band could outdo themselves.that is,until stone temple pilots emerged with "purple",a veritable mellow step down from "core"'s aggression and heaviness."meatplow" is a straight forward modern rock song that gets the album going."vasoline",a quick and catchy tune was the first single and really kicks the cd into high gear."interstate love song" was the mellow, hit single radio was looking for and it piloted the band to mainstream success (although not one of my favorites)."still remains"-if there is a better stone tmeple pilots track post "core",you let me know because i could listen to that song day in and day out forever.unbelieveable."silvergun superman" picks up in the wake of "meatplow" and "vasoline" while "big empty",the track made famous by "the crow" provieds soft verses and a heavy chorus."unglued",the fast punk rock song seems out of place but it is soo amazing."kitchenware and candybars" is the epic ending and although very long, it is a great mellwoed out track and fun to listen to.all in all, STP have eclipsed the greatness of "core" and their 1994 album "purple" remains one of my favorites of all time.sheer genius.
