Let me start off by saying I absolutely love this CD. I also absolutely love their sophomore album, which I purchased before this.
When I bought a TBS album, I had a weird idea about it...I thought it would be very pop punk (the very upbeat, simple plan-esque type) without really thought through lyrics (think good charlotte without makeup and a mainstream following). I was pleasantly surprised to find it was much, much more. I love the way they overlay the songs, and I know pretty much every word to every song. Some people call this type of music 'emo' or 'pop punk', or whatever, and that's pretty much what I'm into. If this isn't your scene, I don't know what you're even doing reviewing this CD. Obviously you won't like it if you're not into that kind of music. That said, I'll go into song by song review.
1. You Know How I Do - 8/10. I quite like this song, but there's nothing that I could particularly mention that I like. I just like listening to it. No 'stand out' lines, or anything. It's just a good song.
2. The Bike Scene - 9/10. I really love this song. It's hard to describe, but I just really enjoy the lyrics, and some parts of it I just rewind and listen to over.
3. You Know How I Do - 9/10. "Your lipstick, his collar, don't bother angel, I know exactly what goes on." I love the way this starts off. When I first downloaded this off this site, I thought it was a pretty basic song. The more I listened to it the more the lyrics became apparent and stuff....and again, if you do not like emo/pop punk/this whole scene, don't try to review, listen or read about this Cd.
4. There's No I In Team - 9/10. I love this song too. I know its rather boring just to read "oh i love this song, i do, i do" over and over, but I truely do love these songs. I've had bad best friend experiences, so it just kind of rings true. I can hear the 'serious music listeners' puking already.
5. Great Romances Of The Twenty First Century - 8/10. Nothing really stands out for me on this song, it's just good. Some of the repeated lyrics are enjoyable.
6. Ghost Man On Third - 8/10. Again, not a stand out track, but enjoyable nonetheless. I feel like I should be providing you with more information about these tracks, but I can't, really. Best lyrics: I'm out and on the parkway, patient and waiting for headlights, dressed in a fashion that's fitting to the inconsistencys of my moods"
7. Timberwolves At New Jersey - 9/10. Often skip to this song. Particularly like the line about 'those words were at best worse than teenage poetry.' More good lyrics ensue.
8. The Blue Channel - 8/10. Quite like this song, very sticks-in-your-heady.
9. You're So Last Summer - 7/10. I loved this song when I first heard it. Heard it one too many times. Originally was a 9/10, but deducted two points for repeated listening that deteriorates the quality.
10. Head Club - 8/10. Good song. Nothing stand out. Like the lyrics. Like the music. What can I say?
Overall, it's just a really good CD. Have to hear it to describe it.
