Full of Artificial Sweetner

I came across The Killers in the alternative section at the Tower Records in NYC. Normally, they classify their music well and distinguish alternative from Top 40. Always looking for the next best thing, I scanned the disk and proceeded to listen. I quickly discovered that The Killers represent the decline of counter culture as we know it. The tracks are as sacrin as Sweet and Low. I am embarrassed to say that there is one track that was I-Pod worthy: "Somebody Told Me". In addition to "Somebody Told Me", there are two or three semi-okay tracks not worth mentioning in detail.
Vegas native, lead singer Brendan Flowers (the name counterintuitive) fakes a great British accent. In actual fact, "Hot Fuss" has a great deal in common with Flower's home town. They are both manufactured and lacking in substance. The lyrics are banal and senseless and the composition is not far from that of a Britney Spears track. Saying all of that, I could not help to bop around to "Somebody Told Me". It is a guilty pleasure similar to Brittney, Beyonce, Blink 182 and Rooney. I can feel my brain turn to mush every time I listen to it, but am compelled none the less.
This should not be recommended to Interpol fans as it is on Amazon. It is by no means the same genre. The Killers have created nothing more than brain candy, but sometimes brain candy can be fun...
