Ok, I will admit, I was dissapointed and turned off by this album at first. I miss the incredible riffs and solos of the GNR days! The band seems to be trying to re-create themselves. There are still some pretty awesome solos on the album, especially on "Fall to Pieces". "Fall to Pieces" should be their next single. This song is freakin' awesome! Scott's vocals seem to heal or mend himself.
What really drew me into this album, after about a week of listening, was Scott's vocals. Honestly, they are incredible. Passionate. Heartfelt. And a joy to sing along with. Although Slash is my favorite guitar player ever, and I am a huge fan of him, I have to say I like Scott's vocals as much as any work that Slash did on this album.
Loving The Alien is definetley one of the shining stars on this album. It opens and closes with a riff that is very simliar to "Sweet Child O' Mine", although it isn't quite as catchy.
I hope on their next album Slash goes crazy with his guitar like in the GNR days. That would be my only suggestion for improvement.
This album is the best thing I have heard since Sublime blew up in 96/97. It has also been stuck in my CD player, when I am not comparing it to other albums I love. I am a fan for life. Long live Velvet Revolver!
