The songs on the album are incredible. That is all there is to it. I have seen VR live and listened to their album about a trillion times. Anytime I try listening to the radio, or another CD, I find myself quickly sliding this one back into the CD player. The whole album was recorded in a mere 3 weeks, and intended to be a raw, virtually live experience, involving heart and emotion. "Fall To Pieces" is absolutely one of my top ten favorite songs of all time. It is personal and intense and I can listen to it over and over and over again and still feel the connection that Scott Weiland intended to impose on his listeners. "Slither" was the first song I ever heard off the album and it drew me in. It continues to deliver the same intensity every time I listen to it. I personally also really love the song "Headspace." It is a good one to check out.
I absolutely adore Velvet Revolver, and cannot wait for their next album. This album comes from one of the only true Rock bands out there and has been on just about every single "Best of 2004" list published. They are freaking Grammy nominated!
If you are hesitant about the band living up to the whole "super group" thing, just try to forget about that whole concept, forget about who the musicians are the first time you listen to the album. They absolutely do live up to the super group idea in my opinion. If you ever get a chance to see them live, you should absolutely take that opportunity. (Slash is one of the nicest people I have ever met by the way, if it helps encourage you to listen to the album.) :)
Listen once straight through, and you'll be hooked!
