Summary: Rome Adventure
Comment:
I saw this film in 1962 just days after returning from a tour of Italy. While not a classic film by any means, I was totally won over and was back in Italy again. Whenever I watch it and listen to Max Steiner's wonderful score I can practically smell Rome. It was titled 'Lovers Must Learn' here in the UK, and was never released on VHS here. I had to get a copy from the USA. I would like to add a plea to Warner Bros to release this film on DVD. It has a real nostalgia quotient attached to it, even more so due to the recent sad demise of Suzanne Pleshette.

Summary: Rome Adventure
Comment: I was 16 when Rome Adventure came out. I did not see it then but had a movie magazine with Angie Dickinson's picture on the back. She talked about the fun of riding around Rome on motorcycles. Rome Adventure typifies the innocence of the early 1960s. Suzanne Pleshette is librarian Prudence Bell on her big trip to Rome. She looks for love and finds it in Troy Donahue. Dickinson is her competition. Al Di La is the song, perhaps the most romantic piece ever recorded. Emilio Pericoli croons as we float "beyond the beyond." Scenes of ancient Rome take us to another place and time.

Comment: I too placed an order for this movie. I love all the old Warner Bros. films.
I love the music from this picture.
What a disappointment because of the poor quality of the DVD. It goes from color to black and white and back again and the sound quality is terrible.
I called Amazon and made them aware of this. Don't waste your time or money.

Summary: Review of Rome Adventure
Comment: This is a wonderful romance set in the stunning scenery of Italy. The theme song is beautiful and it plays at various times throughout the film, enhancing the romance. Troy Donahue was never considered the best actor in the world, but he is a gorgeous leading man and suits the part he plays. Suzanne Pleshette, Angie Dickinson, and Rossano Brazzi (think South Pacific) are good in their roles.
