Treats 10,000 sq. feet. Produced to USDA standards, MILKY SPORE is the safest material ever developed for control over the larvae (grubs) of Japanese Beetles. Milky Spore is not harmful to beneficial insects, birds, bees, pets or man. The product is approved and registered with EPA, Milky Spore will not affect wells, ponds or streams. Considered the weakest link in the chain and the most vulnerable point to introduce an infection, resident spores in treated turf are swallowed by grubs during their normal pattern of feeding; this starts the demise of healthy grubs. Milky Spore disease then begins to cripple the grub, and within the next 7-21 days will eventually die. As the grub decomposes, it releases billions of new spores.

Summary: Milky Spore is great
Comment: This is a great product. I have used it before in my previous home in Connecticut and it did the job there, and seems to be doing the job here in Virginia also. This is the second time I have used it here. Last fall I put it down and there definitely were fewer beetles in the Bag-a-bugs this year.
I chose to put some more down to speed up the time it takes to fill in.
My neighbor also put it down last year and that has contributed to the downsizing of the beetle population also.

Summary: Won'[t be able to review adequately for a year or two
Comment: I bought this product after fighting a serious japanese Beetle problem. It takes quite some time to put the product on your lawn and water it in but I have an acre. It would go quicker for a smaller area. With Milky Spore it takes up to three years to become completely effective and be spread throughout your lawn. I will try to report then what effect it will have. I have also had to use products to spray on individual plants to keep the beetles from completely eating them. I am hoping this dual control will effectively eliminate or at least make the beetles control more manageable.

Summary: good value, jury is out on how much it helps with grubs
Comment: Have been using milky spore for 6 months and I suppose I have less japanese beetles but its not dramatic difference yet. I guess it says it takes a year or two for you to see a difference but it would take all your neighbors to use the same thing to keep them from coming out. A disadvantage of this is it doesn't kill all grubs. There are products out there that kill more grubs but those you have to keep reusing. At least with this it only takes a year or so of using this and you don't have to keep reusing.

Summary: It REALLY works
Comment: I have been infested with those Jap Beetles for years. After one application of Milky Spore, the next year was less. After two years I just found 10-15 beetles all season. It works best if you get your neighbors to use it also.

Comment: Product came damaged but the shipper immediately took care the probem. Milky Spore takes time to apply. I have heard it is great to stop mole situation but it is too soon to tell.
