I'm not African American but I have coarse wavy hair and this product works excellent on my hair. After trying countless hair products over the years, I've learned as a rule of thumb--a little bit goes a long way. You can always add more but you can't take away. I would recommend this hair milk to anyone who has wavy to curly hair. It defines your curls without making them crunchy like gel or mousse and it smells better than synthetic fragances like many other hair products use. And, I have faith that an African American woman knows how to create a product for African American hair. It didnt detangle as well as I had hoped, and after three days I got buildup, and my hair fell completely flat. My hair did not feel moisturized, just coated and greasy. Also, the smell was overpoweringly cloying, like cheap flowery perfume.

Comment: I am an African-American woman with fine hair. I didn't think the product was too heavy for my hair at all. It worked well as a setting lotion for a wet-set style I've been wearing. I also didn't find the smell overpowering. It's a nice fresh scent and as I slept, I could smell it and I found the lemon scent relaxing.
