Customer Rating: Summary: InSinkErator Compact Disposal Comment: We just purchased another InSinkErator Compact Evolution Household Food Waste Disposal in Gray. Our last one just died on us and it was 16 years old. The quality is great and oh so quiet compared to our last one. The one feature I love about it is that the rubber can be taken out and periodically cleaned underneath which the old one couldn't be and that was a hassle cleaning. I hope this one lasts as long as the first one we had. As far as we are concerned you can depend on the name InSinkErator for quality. Also, my husband had no trouble installing it himself.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Disposer! Worth a bit more than the cheap ones. Comment: Ok, so this is the first disposer I've used in my own house that cost more than $75. Let me tell you it's worth paying a bit more! I put one of these in my remodeled kitchen 6 months ago and it is super quiet. Way better than the standard unit. I highly recommend. -Matt Risinger
Customer Rating: Summary: It works, but not as quiet as I thought it would be Comment: I just finished the install of this, took me about 2 hours. I was replacing a badger5, about 10 years old, and was pretty noisy. I had high hopes that this would be super silent, and my biggest disappointment is it's still pretty noisy.
The install instructions were pretty good. The power cord thing is really annoying, make sure you deal with this before you install (make sure you have it!) and buy some plumbers putty.
I am not a plumber, and it was a little nerve wracking to install, the wife is still questioning whether there are any leaks, but it seems ok.
Overall, it looks nice, works fine, but I was unimpressed with how much less quiet it was than the Badger 5.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good Price, Easy Install, and Quiet Comment: It is a great product at an unbelievable price. The hardest part about installing this product was removing the old disposal.
There is one item that is not included in the box you will need to get if it is not on the old disposal. You will need an electrical clamp connector.
Once installed, the disposal is almost silent when running.
Customer Rating: Summary: Don't Plan on the Evo Compact Being a Simple Replacement Comment: just bought an Evolution Compact disposal as a replacement for an OLD Kenmore disposal - the Kenmore was noisy and finally gave up the ghost yesterday with smoke from a burned-out motor! The InSinkErator Evolution Compact seemed to be a good fit and easy replacement - I had recently replaced the sink with a top quality deep stainless model and planned on just a simple replacement...out with the old and in with the new. Got the old one out and, on installation, I find the InSinkErator does not provide an electrical line strain relief (this should be a UL complaint!). So that was another part needed from the hardware store. Then on trying to connect to the drain, I find that the InSinkErator has a tiny 4 inch long curved discharge tube...off to a hardware store for a slip-over PVC extension and PVC cement to make it fit. Couldn't use the old chrome/brass curved discharge tube because in an apparent effort to isolate vibrations or reduce noise, this disposal has - not the usual discharge fitting - but a cheap rubber discharge mount with a flimsy spring-type hose clamp...and these ONLY fit their discharge tubes with a very tiny lip on the end. Though installed - and yes, it's pretty quiet - I am not impressed with this item, and it's lack of what should be standard installation components. It was NOT a simple replacement!
