It is two pieces that twist together. The tree being flat. Thinking that it was metal, I tried to bend the branches a bit (not using a lot of force) to give the tree some depth and the branch snapped right off. It appears to be made out of metal dust glued together with some epoxy. If it had been solid, then I could see paying $40 for it, but having seen it in person, I wouldn't pay more than $15. Customer Rating: Summary: tacky and overpriced Comment: This looked very pretty in the picture but in fact it's made in China and some kind of cheap material painted silver. There are only 12 holes so you really can't get many earrings on it. It would be great for a teenager or someone less aesthetically picky than me, with a very small earring collection. I will be sending it back.
