I purchased these lights for my driveway and front door path.
They worked great for about 2 months, now they are lightly lit for about 2 hours, well at least the ones that have enough power to turn on.
They were easy to install in soft ground, took about 3 minutes per light. Stakes are not of great material, be gentle with them.
I just purchased new rechargable batteris*SANYO eneloop 4 Pack AA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries I will update if they work and for how long. Customer Rating: Summary: solar powered outdoor lights stainless westinghouse Comment: I purchased two 15 light sets a few months ago and at first they all seemed to charge up and light up but now half of the lights light up. I've removed the batteries and cleaned the contacts and when I put the last battery back in some lights would light but very dim. The next evening; however the same troubled lights would not light. Can someone tell me why I spent so much money to put the nice looking but not reliable lights in place of my very expensive but reliable electrical lighting which I yanked out after installing these pitafull lights. Customer Rating: Summary: Solar light set Westinghouse 15 piece Comment: We love these lights. My son put brackets at the top of our fence in back
and set the lights at the top of the fence. It puts out a beautiful cobalt blue light on to our patio. We had so many lights left over that
we had enough to line the rest of the lights in front along the each side
of out walk way. We highly recommend these lights in fact I'm going to
purchase 2 more sets for my kids for Christmas. By the way all of the lights lit up the first night. One light did not and all we had to do is change the batteries. Another note..if you are looking for a set of lights we highly recommend metal over plastic. Harry & Janet Zimmer Customer Rating: Summary: mostly good Comment: nice looking, easy to install. seem sturdy. one or two provide weak light compared to the others, even if placed in direct sunlight all day. I need to follow up with customer service. Customer Rating: Summary: Just OK when working, all broken w/in few months Comment: When I first got them, about 1/3 didn't work, but the company was great in replacing the non working parts. BUT, now, only 10 months later, every single one is broken.
There are plastic threaded parts that hold the lights to the post, then the same kind of plastic part to hold the post to the stake. First the heavier lights and posts broke off the stakes, so I just stuck the poll in the ground without the stake, but then the same plastic piece that holds the light to the stake, started breaking.
The heat and sun have weakened the plastic threaded pieces and now they are all breaking off just under the light. This is not repairable. The lights work and even most of the batteries still work, but what good is that if there is no way to attach the pieces and use the light set.
It's been an annoying problem since I first got this set, with the bottom pieces constantly breaking and needing repair; but now it's not only frustrating, but upsetting.
I wouldn't mind having to spend the $100 once a year for a whole new set, but to go to so much trouble all year long (or 10 months long) then have to replace them; it's just not worth it.
When the lights are working, they are not very bright. My neighbors have much brighter solar lights in front of their homes. I didn't mind that so much because it's not bad, just different. The light lasts most of the night and well into the early morning. They look nice and if you put them where your gardener won't trample over them, they should last a long time.
UPDATE: I notified the company of the problems I was having and without question they replaced every part I was having problems with and send extra parts. I was able to fix or replace every old, not perfect part with brand new, working lights. What great service. Now I have a whole new light set outside.
