Explicit Version. Exit 13 into the 2008 release by LL Cool J who has enjoyed one of the most successful and sustained careers in Rap history since releasing his recording debut as a youth. His aggressive style has achieved Grammy Awards and platinum sales with massive crossover success. Comment: I have to say this I'm a person that doesn't believe what the media say about music I like the be the judge of that and listen to the artist music on my own.....which is what I encourage those that don't have this CD to do. Just use your own ears and judge for yourself. I on the other hand is a LL Cool J fan and will support him no matter what and I have to say this album is wonderful from start to finish. It hasn't came out of my CD player since the day I brought it. I will admit LL did go back to some of his old school ways on this CD and tried to mix it with the new school which is real nice. I adore the song "baby", "rocking with the goat", "cry" ft. Lil' Mo, "Mr. President", and "feel my heartbeat" with 50 cents.
To those that don't have this CD see what you think of the CD first and then buy the album....support my LL Cool J!!

Summary: His final album for Def Jam
Comment: I really like this album despite what the fans and critics think. This album is a study in contrast and showcases LL's duality. This album is full of passion, braggadocio, and smooth rhymes. LL can be aggressive, explosive and in-your-face, or alternately suave, smooth and sensual. I personally think that this album will not sell as well his others but it is listenable when you put this album ON.

Summary: Good, but not GOAT
Comment: It is always great and fun to hear some new LL after all these years. This is not his best album by far, but he does come through with a handful of good ones.
-Baby - here is your mainstream song that gets the album in radio play.
-You Better Watch Me - this one is great. You can play this one over and over and just bob your head.
-Speedin on da Highway - I like this one driving down the road.
- Come and Party With Me - good enough for the end of the album
- Feel My Heart Beat
Some of the songs are flat-out not good - Mr. President, Dear Hip Hop and American Girl. Who talked him in to doing these?
Anyways, this album has its moments and is worth a listen because LL is the G.O.A.T.

Comment: L.L. Cool J is a legend in the rap game. Do not sleep on this release. Every track on this album may not be a banger, but just on the strength and longevity of L.L. Cool J's career, this is definitely a must buy. (NOW GET UP AND GO GET IT BEFORE THE STORE CLOSES!):)

Summary: This album is nice but the mix tape is so much better
Comment: LL recorded for two years and made three albums worth of music before he released this. Prior to this release he put out a promotional mix tape which can be downloaded free from the web. Just google 'Return Of The Goat LL'. That mix tape was amazing and I played it all day every day. It could have - "correction" it should have been the CD. I would guess the tracks which didn't make Exit 13 were on the mix tape. The mix tape re-instates him as the GOAT. Exit 13 doesn't.
I heard he reads some of his reviews because this one is real. I've watched LL very closely since 1985, seen his tours, bought all the vinyl and cds and I have to say his skills, and talent is flawless. 25 years in this industry speaks for itself. He is one of the few artists who can actually motivate and positively influence people to go out and be successful. However on this LP the production is what needs to shine more. DJ Premiere, Dr Dre needed to be on here. Maybe even Eric B would have made the musical content shine more. Where's he? Pharrell is another name who could have been in the fold. 5 points for using Marly Marl though.
I give it four stars for the pure genius of his lyrical ability but to be honest, the tracks I keep playing are (1) Its time for war (6) You better watch me (10) This is ring tone murder and (18) We rollin. In a recent interview LL said there is something in there for everybody. He really should have put just one whimsical track in there like Baby and made the rest of the CD a lot more musical, soulful and edgier. Where's that song featuring Trey Songz called "Girl If I"? Listen to Roy Ayers and you will understand what soul is. Could you imagine if LL got Roy in the studio. I think artists need to have a core market and focus on it. "LL" always sold more when he focussed on a harder style. The success of the "Mama said" album supports this remark. The street is where you truly belong LL because that is what the masses want to hear from you.
I'm a true fan of Krs1. Again the production of 5 Boroughs didn't justify the calibre of artists on that track. Ryan Leslies contribution could have been better. For future releases put aside 50cent and focus on the Premiers and Dr Dre producers of this world and watch the next release go triple platinum. I was very surprised that Slim Shady did not guest appear on this. Em is a true fan of LL. Imagine if Cool J had Nas and Kanye co exec produce for him. For lyrical content I'll give this a "B to B+" Still, it is worth buying because it's much better than most of the material being put out in this day and age.
