Summary: Not Perfect, but Gets the Job Done
Comment: I purchased the Dazzle to record some video game matches, and was mildly disappointed. First, you need to purchase, at minimum, a set of AV cables, along with 2 Y splitters. The recordings might also seem a bit jumpy at times because the Dazzle only records at 30 frames per second, while most video games run around 60.
The other problem I had was audio desynch. This isn't a problem if you're putting music or something over the recording, but if you want to record a vhs or tv (I haven't tried yet), then it is obviously a huge problem.
However, there are perks. I found it easy to set up and record, and the video quality is great. The program saves the video files in a weird format (.vob) but you can import it to windows movie maker, edit it, and then publish/save it to another format.
Overall, a good device which I'm pleased with.

Summary: Vista users don't buy this product
Comment: Vista users will have problems with this product. I installed the software and then I connected the hardware. It was able to show me the preview but as soon as I clicked next something just happened, the picture was gone and all i heard was scratching noise from the audio side. Restarted my pc twice and still the same problem. I eventually gets the error USB Malfunctioned. This is not the first time I bought dazzle product. The first time I bought dazzle was for xp back in 2005 and that worked fine but this one is for vista and it stinks...

Summary: Not a problem at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Comment: I installed as directed (Vista 32bit) I seen where some of the reviewers had problem recording directly to a DVD without saving the video to the hard drive first. I tried to record directly to the DVD and it worked real well not a problem. I got this for my son to capture video from his xbox so being the geek I am, I had to try this to record a movie from the tv. I like this so much my Son might have lost his Dazzle.

Summary: Compatibility Issues w/ Vista
Comment: I purchased this to use with a laptop running Vista 64-bit to burn straight to DVD, and the results were very spotty; I've since returned it for a refund.
More than half the time, the program would stop recording incoming video from the VCR. I made sure the software and drivers were all up to date, etc., all to no avail, the connection would just drop partway through the recording process. All in all a frustrating experience.

Summary: Dazzle DVD Recorder
Comment: This seemed like the perfect device to convert my old VHS tapes to DVD. The software installed quickly and the device was recognized by the Windows XP Professional SP3 operating system. The software seemed to be working great, writing the DVD directly without having to save and convert files. Then, nearly at the end of the process, a write error locked up the record process. Upon closing a dialog box popped up indicating a "Runtime Error" due to the program asking to close "in an unusual way", but no other specifics. I attempted to contact AVID Customer Service several times. I was unable to get through on any of several attempts. Google searches led me nowhere.
Bottom line is that the Pinnacle software does not function reliably. Pinnacle (Dazzle/AVID) customer service is non-existent.
